Like most cacti, these plants prefer sandy soil (cactus mix) that has excellent drainage that does not retain water.
Water: Let the soil dry out between watering. Watering every week to every other week is generally enough. If growing in a pot, ensure not to overwater. Overwatering will cause roots to rot.
